For longtime Vanderpump Rules viewers, the idea that Jax and Brittany would have lasted this long seems crazy. And yet, the news of their separation still came as a shock to most. Mainly because they finally got themselves back on television and back in the public eye, whether we wanted it or not. First with their joint podcast, When Reality Hits, which launched in March 2023, and then with the soon to premiere reality show, The Valley. They Valley, which is a spinoff of Vanderpump Rules, follows Jax and Brittany, fellow former Vanderpump Rules cast member Kristen Doute and her boyfriend Luke, as well as some newcomers that we haven’t seen before. The premise is a group of friends living in the Valley who are taking a “shot at adulting.” With the first season of the show already wrapped and set to premiere on March 19th on Bravo, the timing of this separation announcement seems suspect. Whether it’s real or not, it is making people want to tune into the new show, even if they weren’t that interested to begin with. Afterall, watching a group of people, half of which are in their 40’s and the other are almost there, learning to “adult”, seems a bit sad. Maybe if The Valley premiered five years ago the reaction would be different, but no one was really asking for this show now. So, are Jax and Brittany really separating? Or this this just a ploy to get people to tune in? Lets dive in.
Jax met Brittany in Las Vegas, in 2015. She claims he fell in love with her at first sight and begged her to move to Los Angeles to be with him. Viewers of Vanderpump Rules season 4 witnessed Brittany coming onto the show as Jax’s new girlfriend. They also witnessed him pretending to be happy she was there and living with him, while also telling every girl around him that he was single. Despite seeing this air, Brittany stood by him, and took his side. A theme that would plague their relationship.
In season 6 of Vanderpump, Jax cheated on Brittany with fellow cast member Faith, As James Kennedy so eloquently put it, “Remember when Jax Fu*cked Faith?” Ironically that line caused almost more of an angry reaction from Britt than Jax actually doing the cheating, but I digress. Despite Jax cheating, and being recorded saying horrible, disgusting things to Faith about Brittany, and Brittany even famously screaming “rawt in hail” at Jax, she eventually forgave him. This was the start of everyone claiming what a changed man Jax was.
In season 7, Jax proposed to Brittany at a crab shack in Malibu, and their wedding was showcased on season 8. It was during this time that a huge cast shakeup happened. Stars of the show Stassi Schroder and Kristen Doute were fired for their horrible treatment and racist behavior towards Faith. Jax’s own poor and at times racist behavior was also mentioned by many viewers, when Jax and Brittany announced they too were leaving the show. If you ask them, it was their choice, if you ask anyone else, they too were fired. If you ask me, there’s no way they would leave willingly. Especially when they had just purchased a $1.9 million home and the show being their main, if not only, source of income. But you can decide for yourself why they left. Regardless, they will be back on TV in just a few weeks it seems. Just in time to split up?
It seems wild that all of the things that Jax has done and Brittany has forgiven, that they would split up now. Since the news hit, Brittany has taken their son Cruz and moved out and into a rental home nearby. Jax claims all is fine while Britt claims that Jax needs to “change some things” about his life if he wants them to come back. People speculate that he cheated, again, since he has appeared solo on the reality show House of Villains. As well as being seen on a solo guys trip with fellow habitual cheater Tom Schwartz in Canada, not long before Brittany announced she was leaving. However, I feel if that were the case we would get another famous “rawt in hail” from her, instead of the neutral Jax needs to make some changes she’s been saying.
So what do you think?
What was the reason for the separation? Is it even real? Will there be a divorce? I guess we’ll just have to tune into The Valley on March 19, on Bravo. Which is exactly what they want. Well played.
